When to follow up?

Saturday, July 26, 2008 22:07

When should I follow up? This is a common question asked when I talked about follow up in CMS. By now, I hope you at least understand the structure of CMS which is highly leveraging the marketing principals and incorporated them into career marketing. To ease our understanding of follow up in marketing, let us understand the definition of follow up:

“step in a marketing plan that follows the implementation of an advertising campaign or promotion or the introduction of a new product, in order to evaluate the results.”

Leveraging this principal into CMS, follow up is step in career marketing system that follows after sending resume, attending the interview and after benefit negotiation in order to evaluate the results.

There you are, follow up in CMS can happen @:

- after sending resume

- after attending an interview

- after benefit negotiation

Whenever you are following up, you must remember that the main purpose for you to follow up is to remind your future employer about yourself and also your interest to get the job but never show you are desperate :) . The feedback you will be getting after you follow up will help you evaluate the effectivness of your CMS.

For the my future articles about follow up, I’ll elaborate in details on how to effectively follow up after sending your resume, attending the interview & after benefit negotiation. If you have any experience following up in your job search, I would really appreciate if you could leave your comments.

Till then

Take care

View the interview follow-up as an opportunity to demonstrate your commitment and expertise and set yourself apart from the other candidates! Research shows that a low percentage of job candidates actually follow up and send a thank you letter afetr the interview.

Higher chances to be successful in the job search is being different from the competition. Since research shows low percentage of job candidate follow up after an interview, so use it to your advantage. Good luck.
